Kaitiaki Kindergartens is a small association with big vision to be innovative leaders in early childhood education with learning environments are sustainable, equitable and safe.

Currently supporting 14 Kindergartens across North/Northwest Auckland we are looking for someone with meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills to oversee the property maintenance and health & safety of all our sites.

As a growing association there will be exciting opportunities to expand the role depending on the additional skill set you bring.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular on-site inspections to ensure Health and Safety standards are being met.
  • Collaborating with kindergarten staff, vendors, and contractors to prioritise repair and maintenance work, and planning for future projects.
  • Coordinating timely and efficient repairs and maintenance of the Association’s premises.
  • Using data from the services, produce regular report on Health & Safety incidents, accidents or near misses.
  • Working with the kindergarten staff to ensure all hazards are registered, monitored and where possible, mitigated.
  • Liaising with Fire Department to ensure all services Evacuation Schemes are up to date.
  • Overseeing lease agreements, renewals, and compliance with regulations and lease requirements.
  • Overseeing contractor agreements, including ensuring contractor’s work is compliant and to agreed standards.
  • Approving invoices for payment.
  • Assisting in preparing, monitoring, and tracking of property and health & safety budgets.
  • Maintaining the Association’s 10-year maintenance work programme.
  • Project managing larger repair and maintenance projects, including arranging, and accepting quotes, liaising with contractors, and communication with Association staff.
  • Assistance centres to apply for funding grants that include property and/or Health & Safety.
  • Lead continuous improvement through review of procedures and practices related to property and health and safety.

Skills & experience:

  • Experience in managing maintenance of multiple sites – preferably early childhood facilities.
  • Strong organisational, communication, analytical and reporting skills.
  • A working knowledge of regulations related to early childhood facilities and health &safety.
  • A quality-focus, with a drive to deliver service excellence.
  • An ability to work with numerous stakeholders including association staff, contractors, vendors, and service/utility providers with the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
  • Level 2 playground inspection certification advantageous.

Note:  This is not a ‘hands on’ maintenance position, but you won’t be afraid to get stuck in if needed.
